Leaderboard Settings

The Leaderboard is a competitive feature in Gameful that ranks players based on their achievements within the course.

Here’s how you can configure the Leaderboard settings to foster motivation and celebrate success:

The leaderboard settings can be found on the “Settings Page” or by clicking the Gear icon on the Leaderboard page when logged in as an admin.

Leaderboard Status

  • Activation: Enable the Leaderboard by turning this feature ‘On’. It becomes a dynamic element where players can see their comparative standings, fostering a competitive yet educational spirit within the course.

Customizing the Leaderboard

Name

  • Title Customization: Change the default name from “Leaderboard” to something more thematic, like “Hall of Heroes” or “Top Achievers,” to resonate with the course’s gamified atmosphere.

Percentage to Show

  • Selective Display: Here you can set the percentage of top players you wish to display. Placing this at “40” means the Leaderboard will show the top 40% of players.
  • All Users Tab: Besides the main Leaderboard, there’s an “All Users” tab that displays all users irrespective of their loot. This inclusive view is particularly useful for students seeking to connect and view each other’s public blog posts, fostering a sense of community and shared learning experiences.

Default Sort Column

  • Ranking Basis: Determine the default criterion for player rankings. You can organize players by “Badge” count, or opt for other metrics like “XP” or “Gold”. Choose the metric that best aligns with the desired outcomes and behaviors in your course.

Finalizing the Configuration

Once the Leaderboard settings are dialed in:

  • Click ‘Update’ to save the changes.
  • Communicate to players how the Leaderboard works, what metrics are important, and how often it’s updated.
  • Regularly monitor the Leaderboard to ensure it remains a positive and motivating element of the game.

Remember, the Leaderboard should reflect the core values and objectives of your course, recognizing and rewarding the efforts and achievements of your players.
